Well here we go, we are already into 2024. Maybe we made Resolution(s) and have broken them. Maybe we don’t bother making them in the first place, knowing they will be quickly broken. Life is full of maybes and ifs, choices are made which can have far-reaching consequences. Life teaches us and maybe the decisions we make help us and others if we get things right.

I read the other day that as there are so many clowns out there, why do we keep going to the circus? Maybe because seeing the powerful, those with influence, makes us smile when things start to go wrong for them. Makes us feel better. Maybe. Though most of us smile with pleasure when those close to us have good news to share.

Stephen Sondheim wrote a song called Send In The Clowns. A good song but I want to concentrate on Both Sides Now, the verse which says:

I’ve looked at love from both sides now
From give and take and still somehow
It’s love’s illusions that I recall
I really don’t know love
Really don’t know love at all

The clowns are already here. But where is love? The world needs love, the clowns show us hate and war. If we all start to know and exercise love, then maybe we can change the world. The little people, you and me. Even the sub-postmasters still seeking justice. If we seek to understand the true meaning of love. That Love which threw everything into being, sustains humanity through Love, which never stops loving each and every one of us. No matter our background, religion, all the things that separate us. No maybes, no ifs, a Divine Love which went to the Cross for us.

May 2024 and all our remaining days help us to reverse the words ‘I really don’t know love, Really don’t know love at all’.

‘Bye for now and God bless you
